Honda Hybrid 2009

Styling:
As with the original Insight, Honda engineers worked hard to design and refine the styling of the new Insight. The goals? Maximum functionality and peak aerodynamics for sure. But they also thought a lot about how it would feel to drive one.

The front of the car is strong and lean. The taller rear helps this 5-door hybrid slip through the air seemingly without effort. The Insight shares a family resemblance with the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle. Sleek and sophisticated, the FCX Clarity commands attention wherever it goes.

The Insight is designed with a low center of gravity and a generous 5-passenger cabin. Five-door access and folding rear seats meet the needs of an active lifestyle. Details like the use of smaller internal components that allow for more cabin and cargo space make the Insight family-friendly and versatile. Finally, it’s important to note that the Insight, like the original Insight, was designed and built from the ground up to be a hybrid.

So when you drive around town in the new Insight (and you can, starting in spring 2009 in the U.S.), the value will make you look smarter, but it’s the distinct style that will make you want to be seen.

Multi-Information Display (MID)
In addition to displaying exterior temperature, average fuel consumption, and current MPG, the Multi-Information Display also provides feedback on your braking and acceleration to help you drive more efficiently. Efficient driving is also encouraged with an icon display.

60/40 Split Fold-Down Rear Seatback:
The 60/40 split rear fold-down seatback lets you create the right balance of people and cargo. The seat folds flat to maximize the ample cargo space and make it easier to slide in long objects.

Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition:
Planning a trip? Lost in the suburbs? Either way, the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™[1] is here to help. With eight gigabytes of memory and voice recognition, it provides convenient directions using a series of 24 global positioning satellites.

USB Audio Interface:
The EX model’s USB Audio Interface[2] can read flash drives loaded with MP3 or WMA® music files. You can also plug in your compatible iPod®[3] to this port, which not only charges the device but allows it to be controlled using the interface dial on the head unit or steering wheel.

Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®:
Choose the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with voice recognition[1] and enjoy the factory-installed Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®[4] communication tool. This feature allows you to use a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone that has the hands-free profile without taking your eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. The system has voice-recognition capability that will store up to 50 contacts per phone within the system. Certain phones with phonebook export capability may transfer their entire contact list into the system’s memory (up to 1,000 names and 10,000 phone numbers). The phonebook can be password-protected for extra security.

Insight: A Hybrid Pioneer
The original Honda Insight, introduced in 1999, broke new ground as the first gasoline-electric hybrid car sold in America.

Aerodynamic and innovative, the Insight redefined the way engineers thought about fuel-efficient vehicles. The centerpiece of this groundbreaking car was the compact and efficient Integrated Motor Assist IMA® hybrid powertrain.

The Insight still stands as a testament to Honda’s challenging spirit and our willingness to reach for an impossible goal. And that spirit lives on in our newest hybrid, which shares the Insight name.

Insight: Hybrid Evolution
The new Insight Concept draws upon a rich heritage, and by making hybrid technology available to more drivers, this vehicle is a pioneer in its own right.

Stylistically, it bears a family resemblance to the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle. The Insight Concept has improved on the design of the original Insight with a roomier 5-passenger cabin. Five-door access and folding rear seats make the Insight Concept perfect for the active lifestyle of most families today.

The new Insight Concept also benefits from improvements to Honda’s latest IMA® technology, including reduced size and cost along the way. A new level of affordability and practicality characterizes the new Insight, offering further evidence of Honda’s longstanding environmental leadership and our constant emphasis on making life better for our customers, and society as a whole.
